The Lohit word in the Lohit Youth Library Network name does not represent only the present Lohit district — it represents the entire region of the erstwhile undivided Lohit Valley.

De-institutionalised library movement.
Reimagined as Reading Rooms and Learning & Discussion Centres.
Each library is managed by volunteers and readers themselves.
Storytelling, poetry recitation, loud reading, book talks, discussions and quiz sessions promote the joy of reading.
Visits, public talks and interaction sessions with visitors from many places.
Periodic mini book exhibitions and sales for youth, reaching towns and villages right up to the last China border village in upper Lohit Valley.
Extension service is the core of the movement — reader-volunteers spread the joy of reading in their spare time.
In effect, the library goes out to readers in schools near and far.
